A modular approach to FLL competition. The engineering is more complicated, but the design is tremendously flexible. This is one of five machines designed for the Into Orbit challenge, each custom tailored for its specific missions. This mission sequence assumes that Machine 1 successfully collected the Water Core Sample and the Lander, that machine 4 collected the 3D Printer Block, and that machine 3 collected the Space Station Module. An additional push-rod (not shown) can be installed on the robot to push the opposing team's Solar Array, or the rod can be omitted in case the opposing team has reversed the angle of the Solar Array on our field (hence the total score is either 90 or 112).
