Life With You - Part 2/2
Once he pulled up to her street, she interrupts him.
"Actually, can you, uhhh, take me to Selena's? I'm sleeping over," she says. All she wanted to do was have someone to talk to.
"Yeah, thats fine," he answers, turning into another street. When he pulled up into Selena's driveway, he turns to her, shutting off the engine.
"You said you wanted to tell me something?" he asks her.
She shrugs. "Nah, it can wait. So, umm, if you go, when do you leave?"
Joe seemed to let out a heavy sigh before saying, "Three days after graduation."
Demi felt her heart drop. "Thats so soon."
"Yeah, it is."
"I'm gonna miss you."
Joe looks over and meets her eyes. "Of course I'm gonna miss you too. But
I'm sure we'll be fine, just like I said."
"Oh yeah. Definitely. Anyway, I should let you go. I'm exhausted," she tells
him, eager to get out of there. Demi flashes a slight smile before leaning over to give him a light kiss before walking out.
~The Day Joe Leaves~
"You need to tell him. Don't let him leave, Demi," Selena urges her best friend as they stood in front of the airport, watching as Nick and Kevin helped Joe unload the car.
Demi keeps her eyes glued to Joe as he said goodbye to his brothers. "I can't. This is his dream.. the news can wait."
"But he needs to know. He should have a right and--" Selena starts off but Demi interrupts her.
"He will know. Just not now, but soon."
"Alright, if you say so. But I still think you should let him know before he goes," Selena says and walks away as Joe came their way.
"So.. uh.. Dem." Joe leans in and takes his girlfriend in his arms, hugging her as tight as he could. Demi held on, not wanting to let go. Little did she know, she had only started to cry even harder. Sobbing, she burried her face in his shoulder.
"Demi, Demi, calm down, babe," Joe soothes, pulling away.
Demi frowns, looking at him. "I can't help it."
He nods slowly and forces a smile. "We'll get through this, alright?" he asks her. She just nods, biting her lip. "Well I really should start getting checked in. Dont wanna miss my flight."
"Mhm," Demi mumbles, looking down.
"Hey, now," Joe steps forward and takes her hand in his. "I love you. You know that right?"
Demi smiles. "Of course. I love you too."
He smiles once more before turning around, but before he could walk away, Demi grabs his arm. "Joe. Wait." He turns around. "I need to tell you something," she finally breathes out. "And I'll make it quick so you can leave."
"Sure, what is it?" he asks, concerned.
She sighs and looks down at her hands. "I wanted to tell you sooner but I thought it would prevent you from leaving."
"Demi, you're scaring me."
"Joe, I'm pregnant."
Joe's eyes seemed to go wide and he looked at her with a face she couldnt tell whether it was of shock or fear or both.
"Please don't feel like you need to stay because you don't. I'll be fine. Me and our baby both," she blurts out.
He took a deep breath before looking at her and shaking his head. "No. I'm staying."
Demi starts to cry even harder. "No. No, no, no. You need to go. London is waiting. Its your dream."
Joe continues to shake his head. "I cant just leave you here."
"Yes, you can."
"I won't."
"Joe, trust me. I will be fine. I know you want to go. You can come visit, just like you said."
A few minutes go by before Joe finally says, "You're really confident about this?"
"100%. Hurry, your plane almost leaves."
"Will you call me everyday?" Joe finally asks, glancing down at his watch.
"Yep, just like how we agreed."
"Well... I'll call when I get there," he says.
"And I'll be waiting."
They hug and kiss one more time before Joe finally left through the airport
doors. Demi turned to Selena and Selena opened her arms up for her best friend. They all start to walk back to Kevin's car. When they finally got to Kevin's car, they all see someone standing next to it, waiting. Joe didn't leave.
"What took you guys so long?" Joe asked, a hint of a smile in his voice as he looked towards Demi.
"What are you doing? You're going to miss your flight," Demi says.
"Ahh, they can leave without me," he says.
"But why?" Demi questions.
"You really believe that I would leave? Especially after what you told me? Hell no," he laughs. This makes Demi smile. "I don't care if that school is number one for photography, I dont care if its in London, I dont care if they're giving me a full scholarship. All I care about is you and the life we're going to have together, after this. Cause baby, we graduated and we're adults. We can do anything we want, and all I want is to be with you and spend every waking moment right by your side. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, don't count on it." He smiles at Demi and she just runs into his arms, hugging him tight.
"Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky," she says.
He smirks. "I ask myself that every single day, when I'm with you."
Demi smiles once more and leans up on her toes to kiss him.
