Before anyone says shit about this is a bad level, I want to just put it out there that I had an amazing time with this level. It's a fresh take on an old 1.9 level through gameplay variations and entire parts being rebuilt from scratch. This greatly benefitted me in the entertainment department and I had great fun learning the new parts while re-learning the old Sonic Wave parts. Additionally, this level for the most part fixed what I disliked about Sonic Wave and made it far more playable in some areas.
However, I will say that this level is far too chokepointy for the majority of players to enjoy this level thoroughly. Most of these are literally just superbuffed original Sonic Wave parts. There are numerous examples of this, such as the dual at 49% (it was originally just one wave, not two) and the slow 66% wave (dumb spike hitboxes). Some parts infamously just have random gravity portals scattered about and making it less playable than it should have been, like the mini-wave at 78% and the the majority of the last normal wave. The worst example for both of these is easily the last slow wave part. Not only were random spikes added to the part for no reason, the 96% portal click is stupid and should have never existed. Every other part not mentioned here were mostly fine.
I don't usually cover this, but I think this level is SEVERELY overrated. I took almost half as many attempts on this than Erebus, though this is attributed to my history with Sonic Wave and its remakes. Nevertheless, it was shockingly easy to pass what were supposed to be chokepoints, allowing me to beat this level super quickly - like seriously I picked it up one day, practiced it, went on a holiday, came back, and beat it the next day. And it wasn't like it was a fluke neither - I felt very good playing this and it was super satisfying to clear every single part of this level. I'm surprised myself that the majority of the parts I played, whether from 0% of not, were very fun to play.
Also before anyone points it out YES I am playing the game with my up arrow by having my keyboard rotated 90 degrees anticlockwise and played on my lap. This is because I wanna get used to using my keyboard up arrow instead of my mouse. I know it's hella weird but trust me it isn't as bad as it looks LMAO
Overall, an interesting yet enjoyable level that adds a fresh take on an old legendary level.
