[MY FINAL ACHIEVEMENT IN GD] RUST 100% - Geometry Dash (Extreme Demon)
End of the line, folks.
Exactly 1 year after completing Zodiac as my hardest, I finally did it - my 30th Extreme Demon and a significant one, too. I first started learning this level in mid to late-2021. At that time, my friend spoonGD was learning the level as well, so I decided to give it a shot. I did 63%-100% on 9 Nov 2021, but my progress stagnated from there as I moved on to other levels. Fast forward to late 2023, I had just completed Spectrum Cyclone and needed a level to complete as my 30th Extreme Demon. RUST was the 1st thing on my mind and thus began the practice sessions, albeit it didn't last for very long. I did get some progress, but I dropped the level again due to my National Service (NS) taking a serious toll on my motivation to play the game.
Fast forward to present day, spoonGD had just quit the game entirely. I took inspiration from his departure to grind the level that made himself known. As messed up as it sounds, I wanted to leave the game since my Bloodlust grinding sessions (for reasons I will go in depth later), so it was fitting to end my adventure with one final big bang of a completion - one that was LONG overdue.
The level itself is super fun to play, with every part of the level feeling like you need to learn a gimmick to pass. The clicks in the level sync extremely well too. The decoration also fits very very well with the song. In general no negative comment on the level itself. My only note for the level is that it can get SUPER grindy from 0% due to the pre-drop (generally) being the hardest part of the level. Additionally, for how gimmicky and unique the gameplay is, learning it is quite a pain in the ass.
My final statement? I quit! :D
This completion marks the end of my Geometry Dash journey. I no longer have any levels that I have any backstory or interest in either learning or completing. My internship in late-2022 and especially my National Service (that is still happening as of typing this) has made me see this game as less of a challenge and more of a chore. The game has gotten completely stale for me., but that isn't the game's fault; I just matured. I don't have any drive or wit to continue on the path of sitting in front of my computer for several hours for some measly progress that, frankly now, no longer provides me with a sense of joy. In the future, when I go to university and eventually find a job, I may not be playing this game for difficult achievements, but I will look back on the adventure I have had and smile knowing that I was, at one point, the best Singaporean player in Geometry Dash.
