I have quite abit of history with this level, actually. When I joined the game back in 2016, Bloodbath was the hardest level in the game at that point. However, after the new 2.0 update, I heard of a new hardest level being in the works of verification - Yatagarasu. Similar to other legendary levels, such as Bloodbath and Sonic Wave, I dreamed of one day giving Yatagarasu a shot. Well, here we are today.
This level's gameplay is pretty darn decent. Every single part in the level was relatively easy to learn, with some exclusions to Anubis and Rekedge's cube microclicks. However, problems arose as I started to take Yatagarasu more seriously. There are several horrible transitions and issues with the level, albeit simple to avoid. While most parts were fun to play from any percentage, Rekedge and Funnygame's parts were absolutely disgusting and unbalanced pieces of crap. Initially, Rekedge's part was downright luck-based and I was dying left right and centre in Funnygame's part. Even after grinding and gaining consistency on both parts, they were just so annoying and I did not enjoy both of these parts one bit. Despite issues with learning, I actually found Jeyzor and Michigun's part to be so incredibly fun and challenging. More importantly, Hinds' part is so fun and satisfying to pull off, giving it the title of my favourite part in the level. The decoration for its time is stunning. Even now, the decoration is not half bad and brings back that sweet 2.0 nostalgia.
Everything being said though, my experience with this level was so terrible. With about 17k attempts, this level took me longer than every single Extreme Demon, other than Cataclysm (which theoretically took me 3 days). This is due to the fact that every single attempt was just a dice roll of whether I could pass the first 30%, credit to Jeyzor's wave and Rekedge's horrible, inconsistent part. Even after passing the pre-drop, I would have a solid chance of immediately dying at the first straight fly in weoweoteo. It was so unspeakably annoying to the extent that my motivation for the level was depreciating, fast. Additionally, this was the first level that I set out to try to get very consistent at the drop first before attempting the level from 0 on that day. While the grind certainly paid off eventually, this led to so many instances where I would get a poor performance for the first 5 minutes of the day and immediately dropping the level for the day. As more and more time went on, I was heavily demotivated and lost interest in the entire game. I began not playing GD completely and stopped uploads due to having nothing to upload. I eventually pulled through after I had some motivation to grind the level on 25th March 2022.
While I didn't have lots of fun with the level, I certainly recommend giving this level a shot for those willing to grind out this beast of a level.
Overall, a brilliant legendary level despite a horrible experience with it.
