Welcome to Crawl or No Crawl - this is Carolyn Holzman and today is Mar 26 - Day Number 569 of the indexation research project.
Thanks to everyone who turned out to watch Friday’s Crawl or No Crawl report -I had a guess Marie Ysais and she shared some graphical data that frankly is now my newest diagnostic if someone comes at me with a sudden loss of traffic and impressions during an update without the same in click data.
We were comparing notes and data and came up with a plausible explanation of why some sites experience traffic and impression loss during a core update from the announcement through the duration of the update.

I’d love to show you the bot data - right now I haven’t been able to retrieve any logs on the desktop test site - support tickets have been lodged - still waiting. But for the test site that isn’t getting any new content - the smartphone primary crawler one - it is crickets. Makes sense they aren’t spending resources on sites that aren’t publishing.
One thing that I’m experiencing with the desktop sites - slow to read the sitemaps after submission - and I mean days slow - for the past couple of days on multiple sites - Sunday afternoon started to pick up.
