Welcome to Crawl or No Crawl - this is Carolyn Holzman and today is Sept 11 - this will be shorter than yesterdays - I covered a lot of ground in that one - and here’s the link - • Google Updates Bots and Indexing API Testing
Please leave comments about what you’re seeing - I may bark but I promise not to bite you!
I’m testing the Google Indexing API and if you’re relying on that to get your content crawled - it’s going to be a while.
As yet for the 4 tests that have been launched in this phase of testing - I haven’t seen a javascript rendering of content - that’s been a week.
Why do I think that’s significant?
If you’ve been using it and getting indexation and serving - that’s great.
If your experience has changed and you’ve been assuming that the Google Indexing API is working you might be scratching your head and thinking oh no I’ve been hit by the latest update - you are wasting your energy.
Watch yesterday’s video to get my advice on what to do until they get this sorted out.
BTW - please note that I also think they are working in mobile results - perhaps holding back pushing things out in mobile. Since I’ve been watching this I have until now not seen where the desktop volatility is higher than the mobile volatility -
These don’t just happen.
