In this tutorial, I want to tell you a simple way to create a ribbon effect on an image object in Adobe Illustrator. In this project, I have created 6 shapes with different colors, and I have made them into a group.
I will create a vertical line using Line Segment Tool. On the stroke, I set the thickness to 5 point. After that, go to Effects in the menu. Distort and transform. and select Zig zag. On the size, I change it to 20 px. Select the Relative option. In Ridges per Segment, I change the value to 2. Select Smooth mode on Points. If it is as desired, select OK.
Next step, select the shapes section. open the Symbols window. Click the plus icon to add a new symbol. I will name it My Colors. After that, select the Line section again. Go to Effect. 3D. And open the Extrude and Bevel window. On Rotation Arround X, I change it to -25. Rotation Arround Y, I changed it to -15. and on Rotation Arround Z, I changed the value to 0.
For Extrude Depth, I changed the value to 300 point. You can adjust the value as needed. And next, open Map Art settings. In the Surface option, I use 3 of 6. Make sure in the symbol option we choose the symbol that was created earlier.
Activate Invisible Geometry. If the symbol looks out of position, you can select Scale to Fit. And the result will be like that. Thank you for watching. And see you in another tutorial.
