The creatures we call crabs are crustaceans that are invertebrates. An invertebrate is an animal that does not have a backbone. More than 90 percent of all living animals are invertebrates including lobsters, jellyfish, spiders, earthworms and sponges!
With more than 4500 species of crab, the crab lives in coastal areas and are found in all the worlds oceans. The king crab has been even been found on the freezing continent of Antarctica. Other species of the crab include, the mud crab, the snow crab, rock crabs, horsehair crabs and more.
