First Time Ice Fishing Lake Simcoe Whitefish… and I Limited Out
Ice fishing Lake Simcoe for whitefish for the first time and somehow managed to limit out.
I rented an ice hut with Happy Go Fishing and headed out to try targeting Lake Simcoe whitefish. There was also a chance of burbot and lake trout cruising through the area, but the main goal was to see if I could figure out the whitefish bite.
Early on I started marking fish on the sonar and things got interesting fast. The fights at the hole were chaotic and I nearly lost one of the fish getting it out of the hut.
Somehow I managed to land two solid Lake Simcoe whitefish and limit out on my very first time targeting them.
In this video I also show the bait setups I used and talk through the approach that worked for catching whitefish under the ice.
Huge shoutout to Happy Go Fishing for upgrading me from a tiny one person hut to a huge hut for the day.
