HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LEGEND, THE MAN HIMSELF, MR. DAVID MATRANGA!!!!! You already know that he's my favorite voice actor and that I've had the pleasure to meet and talk to him on several occasions. And he's been nothing but wonderful and kind to me every time. He's the best and I can't wait to see him again this summer.
I had to make a video for his birthday this year, featuring only a very small portion of the MANY MANY MANY characters he has voiced throughout his illustrious career. I've been making my way through his filmography for the past 4ish years and I still feel like I've barely put a dent in it. It was really difficult choosing which characters I wanted to include. There are more that I love that didn't make it in because I chose ones that I thought fit the vibe of the song. But I wanted a mix of popular characters that he's known for voicing (like Shoto, Wolfwood, and Sanzo), but also underrated roles (like Kagerou, Brother Jun, Aki Kuga, and Harlock), and some that I know David really loves that aren't as beloved as they should be (like Orphen, Briaeros, and Kei). David has played so many cool, badass, and hot characters and that's the theme of the video. I spent like a month making this and I had a lot of fun. The audio is kinda wonky (I always struggle with it) and it cuts weirdly at the end, but I rendered it like 4 times and it did that every time. I'm tired of tinkering with it. I did my best and I'm still proud of this video and the thumbnail, regardless of its imperfections.
I'm so happy to support David and his work. He probably gets annoyed with me gushing to him on twitter all the time. I just admire the passion, charisma, and nuance that he brings to every role he plays. And I love seeing him at cons. I've been blessed to have numerous amazing and wonderful conversations with him about his work. He's always so enthusiastic and kindhearted. I have many amazing memories with him from over the years. David is the best. And I hope he has a most wonderful birthday. I can't wait for what he does next!
