Aqualis opens up in a massive way this episode, not through terraformation, but through exploration. After checking the sulfur shelf again and realizing we still can’t mine here , we shift gears and decide it’s finally time to travel across the water and see what the far islands actually hold.
The trip immediately pays off: strange coral formations, new flora, pools that look like they should descend into cave systems, and then… Magnetar Quartz. Lots of it. A resource we can’t craft and desperately need for teleporters and upgrades. Golden clams, Golden Seeds, and rare purple quartz begin stacking up quickly as we hop from isle to isle, dropping teleporters like breadcrumb trails across the moon .
Then comes the moment of the episode, the discovery of the Giant Shell Islands. Massive, towering shapes rise out of the ocean, and one of them looks unmistakably like a colossal crab. The inside is filled with glowing plants, purple trees, and enclosed micro-biomes that feel completely unlike anything on Aqualis so far. It’s beautiful, eerie, and strangely peaceful… like a forgotten habitat waiting for life to return .
Even if the resources aren’t as groundbreaking as we hoped, the biome itself is incredible — and the exploration feels more like Subnautica than Planet Crafter. By the time night falls and we return home, storage is full, teleporters are placed, and Aqualis feels much bigger than before. Breathable atmosphere is close, rockets are ready, and the terraformation curve is about to spike.
