Bats playing with giant squid
Sadly, some of our rehabilitating flying-foxes need to spend months in care before they can be released due to the severity of their injuries.
To encourage physical activity and to help prevent boredom we supply daily browse which includes blossom and branches as well as offering other items that may be of interest to our bats.
We peg grapes to long lengths of plastic chain that encourage foraging behaviour as the bat has to pull up the chain to reap the reward.
Lots of ropes and safe baby toys especially those containing bells are a firm favourite and then there are the stuffed toys that we purchase from op shops.
They are a real favourite as they can be snuggled, played with and beat up without consequence.
I recently spotted this enormous green squid whilst on a op shopping expedition and immediately thought of my bats knowing they would have a ball with the sequined tentacles.
Hmmm, it's not just humans who enjoy shiny things. :)
