In this video, I use Dr. Gary Chapman's book, on the 5 apology languages, "When Sorry Isn't Enough" to talk about making apologies in the business world. I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Chapman in person and I began to think and apply it to my own life.
We all want to be affirmed, valued, appreciated, and understood. Hopefully, you will strive to be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday. While we cannot be perfect mind readers we can begin to be better by practicing every day to be more understanding of each other. Sometimes that means understanding our "Apology Language."
Steven Covey in the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People". says "Seek first to understand, then to be understood. The initial work starts with using our listening skills, being open-minded, curious, and patient. The benefits for you are that you will listen better (if you want to understand), your emotional intelligence increases because you are listening with your heart and you will be able to give great advice because you sought to understand before speaking.
I hope this video helps you obtain peace in knowing you have tried to do the right thing, keep great relationships and perhaps start a few new ones.
