The Housing Crisis - What You Can Do
Today's short video is about our current housing crisis. I've seen your interest in my housing videos and I want to answer your questions and address your concerns. Housing is very important because there is a shortage of it. Our shortage comes from a variety of factors including a slow down of new housing units from past years. Covid people are not moving and have had trouble paying their rent, hence landlords have a lack of availability due to Covid, apartment units may not be available or are slowly coming on board due to eviction moratoriums. This video contains information for nonprofits as well as people seeking housing.
A. For the nonprofit: that wants to help your community.
1. Apply for funding and advocate for your constituents. there is a lot of red tape that you can help to cut with your knowledge.
2.. Make sure you ask for enough funds to pay your staff. Most dollars are going directly to the client and not to the nonprofit that is doing the hard work.
3. Partner with larger nonprofits to help get people through the application process. (Make sure they subcontract with you to give you the funds to operate)
B. For people looking for housing, please consider alternative Housing. Alternative housing may be shared housing, shorter leases
