Lake Tahune Hut - Sustainable House Day 2024
'Lake Tahune Hut' represents a pioneering shift towards sustainable design, replacing an outdated shelter unable to meet growing visitor demands. Situated in a climate zone prone to snowfall, the hut prioritizes insulation, boasting triple-glazed windows and meticulous attention to eliminating cold bridges. Internal heat gains, passive solar features, and micro hydro power cater to heating needs, while advanced ventilation systems prevent condensation. Despite its compact footprint, the hut comfortably accommodates up to 26 bushwalkers, employing locally sourced materials and innovative construction techniques to minimize environmental impact. With a modern yet unobtrusive design, it offers both physical and emotional refuge amidst the rugged Tasmanian landscape.
