The Piña Colada as a drink name has roots from the early 1900s Cuba where it was a drink of pineapple juice and ice. But the version we know today, the famous one, comes from Puerto Rico in the 1950s. The drink was created at the Caribe Hilton by Ramón “Monchito” Marrero and featured a brand new ingredient, Coco Lopez.
1 oz Coco Lopez(30 ml)
2 oz Pineapple Juice (60 ml)
1 ½ oz Rum, Gin or Vodka (45 ml)
½ cup crushed ice
Mix well in blender. Garnish with pineapple and cherry
