The effects can be devastating.
A fireman dressed in his full attire walks onto a staged kitchen to give a demonstration of what to do when a chip pan catches fire. Calmly, he turns off the heat, runs a cloth under a tap and wrings it out, and then covers the pan with the wet cloth and waits until it cools down. We are then shown the same demonstration again, only this time someone throws water over it which is exactly what you shouldn't do. The flames of the chip pan then erupt violently, engulfing the kitchen within a matter of seconds. The camera then zooms out showing a disfigured woman, revealed to be the narrator, sitting and spectating from the safety of a studio booth. Failure to follow the steps correctly can end in devastating effects, she says, as the final close-up shot of the woman's face reveals the awful burn scars – presumably inflicted from throwing water over a chip pan fire.
