Serving System Issue 18 November 2022

This is the project where daily I look at indexation results by publishing test pages with 2 keywords
One of those test keywords is in simple html to test for general rendering of html
The 2nd keyword is wrapped in javascript to test for complex rendering. Complex rendering occurs in a 2nd pass of the page through what even Google docs refer to as the render machine.

Today is a test day. Everything launches fine - publish request and bot arrival - all like clockwork - it’s noted here under today’s date. - this is done on a week by week basis so we don’t get blown out
So has any new content been indexed?
I can confirm that the test page from last Friday tested on for the first time by its simple keyword -
Not the javascript -
Why do some pages take longer than others - that was published a week ago - and here we have Monday’s test page published after that but was served later -
I looked in search console - last Wednesday it shows that test page as indexed at Nov 9 at 7:36
And Monday shows that test page as indexed at 8:16
But why did they not become findable in order - why did they flip flop
This is why I think we don’t have an indexing issue this time of the year - it’s a serving problem - the serving system which is the last process in the indexation system as a whole -
We don’t know enough about the serving system and it’s right under our noses -
So my next question is - have we always had a serving system issue in Q4? - we don’t know -
Why I think its so tricky is that serving can be altered - meaning if its a filter or like a damn where serving is parsed out unevenly - that might explain why we see the jerky findability
Let’s look at the bots. Do they show anything?
Still seeing the tag teaming between the Mobile GB 19 and the Mobile GB 17
19 and 17 are doing their dance - 19 crawls the html - and 17 goes back and does a full render discovery and refresh crawls depending if you’re launching new content or updating existing.
So we’re looking at a lower overall amount of bot activity. They are crawling, they are rendering -
Lately I’ve seen a Lot of well tuned content - lie lower in serps like dead fish -
There should be more volatility if google is taking in, processing and pushing out processed data - they aren’t really doing that in the wholesale manner they normally do.
Hobbling the serving system might also present the same way - and how would we know? It’s like the letter than gets mailed and never arrives - you don’t know what you don’t get.
So if you’re pushing out new content or your page disappears or your traffic drops off and by the time you check your pages - how do you KNOW they are being service - Search console only shows you indexed information.
