Don't let the name scare you. It's way worse than it sounds.
Real talk: The bone saw is one of the first options when we're dealing with ankle function, access to dorsiflexion, calf & heel cord tightness. You might be familiar with the variation that positions the shin of the opposite leg onto the heel cord. In the approach seen here you're using a roller rather than a shin and oscillating side to side like you were playing a fiddle.
Which sounds a lot better than "sawing away at your stiff tissues."
Give it a try, test/retest, let's hear your results.
