Tubeway Army - Jo the Waiter (Full Cover)
This is my cover of Gary Numan and Tubeway Army's song "Jo the Waiter".
I arranged the project in Nuendo with a steady accelerando. I had initially arranged it more like the original, with tempo increases at select points, and recorded several passes in that manner, but those increases felt more like "jumps" in tempo. So, I opted for the accelarando for more smooth gradual increase in tempo, which was a pain in the ass to play and sing to. The temp ticks up half a beat per minute about every twelve beats. Starting at 122bpm and closing out the last verse at 132bpm.
Drums are Addictive Drums, and the bass is Kontakt with Scarbee Red Bass. I gave up on playing the bass part because I haven't been playing much and my fingers weren't up to it.
The synth at the end is a MiniMoog from the Arturia Software Synth collection.
Once the "band" comes in, the vocals and acoustic guitar are doubled, with an electric guitar (Epiphone Casino) buried in the center channel.
I had originally started out making this as an acoustic-only cover, but it morphed into this final result.
I'm playing my Alvarez Silver Anniversary Edition, Grand Auditorium acoustic, and damn if you can't hear the B-string buzz when I fret the D-chord. I adjusted the truss rod several times, but it still snuck in there. This poor guitar has suffered from dehydration and re-hydration over the years, which is why I bought a Taylor 415ce, but that guitar is in the shop at Fret Not Guitar Repair, getting the expression system replaced.
