LESSON PROPER
Using Masters

Every presentation contains a set of masters. A master is the framework that
defines the appearance and organization of slides, note pages, or handouts. It is composed of elements that will appear on every slide or every page of notes and handouts. It also defines the formats applied on the placeholders.

Types of Master
Master Slide defines the elements that will appear on every slide. It
is also used in designing the slide layout, and in defining the placeholders that will appear on each type of slide layout.

Master Notes defines the layout and elements of the note page. It
is also used to define the setup and format of the page.

Master Handout defines the elements that will appear on each page of the handout. It is also used to define the setup and format of the
pages of the handouts.

Master Slide
A master slide is a type of slide that organizes the elements contained on a specific type of slide layout. These elements include the arrangement and formats of text and object placeholders.

A master slide is designed on the Master Slide view. The Master Slide view
provides a working environment and the tools that will help you design the
master slide. It provides a working area (similar to Normal View) for editing individual elements of the master slide.

When you are working on the Master Slide view, Presentation will display the Master tab. The Master tab contains commands and controls that will allow you to design the appearance of the master slide and its associated slide layouts.

Planning the Appearance of the Presentation
In addition to careful planning of the content, you need to plan the appearance of the presentation. You can change the appearance of slides as you develop the presentation, but planning ahead will save you time in the long run.
