LESSON PROPER
The Eyes
The eyes are the organs for seeing. We use our eyes to do our daily activities like studying, playing, and helping with the chores at home. We also use our eyes to observe our surroundings and tell the color, size, and shape of
things. Without our eyes, we may need other people to help us do some things, like crossing the street, going up and down the stairs, and using our gadgets.
The Ears
The ears are our organs for hearing. We use our ears to listen to different sounds around us. Sounds can be soft or loud, pleasant or unpleasant. The sound of a lullaby, soft music, and a whisper are examples of pleasant sounds. Loud sounds such as a barking dog, ambulance siren, and a car horn are not pleasant to hear. Our ears not only make us enjoy some sounds around us. They also help save us from danger by letting us hear warning signs such as fire alarms, car horn, and sirens.
The Nose
The nose is the organ for smelling. Some odors are pleasant. Some are unpleasant. Colognes, some flowers, and most foods have a pleasant smell or odor. Garbage, spoiled food, and rotten fruits have an unpleasant smell or odor. Our nose work with our tongue to help us enjoy our food. It also helps us to be safe from danger, like letting us smell smoke from a fire.
The Tongue
The tongue is the sense organ for tasting. It helps us taste different foods and tell if they are sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. We are able to enjoy food because we can sense their different tastes.
The Skin
The skin covers and protects our whole body. It is the sense organ of touch. We use our skin to feel the texture of things. Texture can be smooth, rough, soft, or hard. By using our skin, we can tell that glass and mirrors are smooth, sandpaper and tree barks are rough, pillows and cotton are soft, and rocks and baseball bats are hard. Our skin also lets us feel the hotness or coldness of things. We should always be careful
not to touch things that are too hot, like a flat iron, hot pot, and candle flame. Our skin is our body covering, it protects our body keeps us warm, too.
