DC stands for Direct Current, defined as a unidirectional flow of electric charge that is from negative to positive,

Sources of DC: Batteries, Solar panel, Rectifier, DC generator.

Applications of DC: DC is used in almost all electronic equipments,
Automotive applications, Emergency lighting, Security camera, Telecommunication equipments

AC stands for Alternating Current, defined as an electric current that repeatedly changes or reverses its direction.

Sources of AC: Alternator, Hydroelectric power, Wind turbines.

Applications of DC: Homes and offices, AC motors, Dishwashers, Washing machines, Refrigerators.

Key terms in AC waveform:
Cycle - The combination of both positive and negative half is called one cycle,
Amplitude - The combined measurement of maximum values of Positive and Negative half cycles.
Time period - The time taken to complete one cycle,
Frequency - Number of cycles per second,
Average value = 0.637 × Peak value,
RMS value = 0.707 × Peak value,
Peak value = 1.414 × RMS value
