Restoring trust between citizens and institutions across Libya
Since its inception in October 2018, the European Union's Baladiyati has achieved notable accomplishments across #Libya in restoring trust between citizens and institutions, as well as supporting local institutions in delivering critical services, which benefitted more than 3 million people.
The Ministry of Local Government, in partnership with UNDP, AICS, and UNICEF, has now launched new interventions in 21 municipalities in Southern Libya to foster peace through improved critical basic services such as water, sustainable energy, sanitation, education, and healthcare, as well as diversifying the local economy. 🕊
As part of this, UNDP supports municipalities to develop and implement local peacebuilding plans that contribute to peace and create jobs for the most vulnerable. This aligns with our Local Peacebuilding and Resilience strategy for the South to further support the Government's endeavours in the South of Libya – a region that has been particularly affected by multiple socio-economic challenges.
The project is funded by the #EU #AfricaTrustFund and is implemented jointly by UNDP, AICS, and UNICEF.
