This session will showcase the features of ASI 110, one of TLT’s active learning spaces designed to promote collaboration through the usage of different forms of learning technology. Instructors can harness the power of student devices to promote authentic and engaging assessments in their teaching practices. Digital tools that allow the use of personal learning devices are an easy way to incorporate both formative and summative assessments, allowing instructors to capture and store assessment data in a digital format. Different platforms incorporate gamification, graphics, video, as well as collaboration to create unique and fun ways to see what students know. Active learning spaces also create opportunities for students to engage in video spotlight coaching and the peer feedback process. Through utilizing the multiple digital projection screens located around the room, students can watch videos of themselves as well as their peers demonstrating different techniques and providing feedback using the writable surfaces and Canvas. This in-person and digital collaboration allows students to give and receive feedback in new and innovative ways.
