This Isnt Your High School Sex Ed Class:Dealing with Sensitive Course Content in a Digital Landscape
In this presentation, a seasoned faculty member explains how to revamp a sensitive content course to educate and engage students by taking a step back, asking for help, and then meeting the students in their arena. In Biobehavioral Health (BBH) 146, the topic of human sexuality is important yet sometimes difficult to talk about. The content had grown stale, and with support from the Schreyer Institute's Design Academy and an instructional designer, the course integrated updated content and utilized anonymous polling software to spark the lively dialogue that had been missing. Now students are both invested and driving much of the discussion.
