If you want to learn how to design on PLC if you want to test some coding or if you want to build a project from scratch using the Logix emulate you are in the right place today we will teach you how to create a virtual controller and you implement a program on top of that using studio 5000 so to start the creation hit the button create on the slot you want to create your controller and select the emulate 55 70 controller and also use the reset configuration if you had any previous project you can define the version you can define the memory size and the periodic save interval if you hit next and finish the emulator is created right now and we can start a new project by opening the studio 5000 you can hit on new project select stud 5000 logic simulate controller define a name for your program that will be test emulate you can select here next define the revision the chassis is slot 0 same as here and finish with that we have the first project opening and we can tie to the virtual controller and hooking up with the virtual controller we will be able to test some programs so while the program is being created we can check on the left hand side the back plane here on the slot zero the emulated test emulate controller if we select go online it will ask to point the communications so we can definitely check on the communication path here it goes and we can download this first program it's empty to the new controller and it's downloading the program into the virtual controller and that's an empty program right but even though we can change to run mode for example and the virtual backplane is now running with this this code right so if I want to create a new program for example I can go to the main routine just as an example create an exam if closed bit and create a test push push button right and we can create a output energize here motor run just an example so I’ll create this as a new tag Boolean create and also create this as a Boolean create here so we can finalize all the edits yes and the code is running code is running into the virtual backplane so if I toggle here for example the output is energized as well and if I move from run to program mode for example that will happen also to the virtual emulate controller we can also add some and do some tasks here so for example change to run mode so we'll move from ram mode program to run mode by clicking here and it changes automatically right by right clicking here we have some options so changing to run to program config some configurations and properties from this chassis right so that was it how to create a first program into a virtual controller.
