ANGEL - Digital Painting Process
This is painting that further explores my new OC "Airis" which I made in February, for my universe project called Iteration. In Iteration, there is a belief in "heavenly angels" with pure white wings as we know them (in Western culture), but it is actually a widespread myth that started with the first human contact with what we might call "harpies". This means that long ago, "angels" and "harpies" were the same thing, but over time, humans isolated themselves in their own castles and kingdoms, and knowledge of other creatures became distant. They grew to believe that "harpies" were savage monsters, while "angels" were an entirely separate idea embodying good quailities such as pureness, civilization, and light. In truth, the real angels are wild, colorful, and dramatic; but, they just as pure, ethereal, and beautiful. Just in way that's far outside of "typical human" expectation.
Over the winter I didn't really do much work for Iteration but hopefully now I will be restarting my progress on it. I've currently got several other paintings in the works which will introduce my universe further! And I am working on a rebuild of my website which will be a precursor to how Iteration will be presented in its final form. It's a massive project of my own making but I hope I can finally push out some more art and lore for it in the coming months.
