Lavinia 2 - Digital Painting Process
18 hour digital painting of my OC Lavinia Grey. This is a follow-up to my 2022 original concept of her where I originally just drew the back view of her design. It was supposed to be done right after that one actually, but I got caught up in a lot of ideas that year. Then this year I finished it back in July, but I've been super busy setting up my first artist alleys and haven't been able to put this up (or work on much new art at all) till now!
It was really hard trying to match the original feeling since it was so long ago, but also because my painting techniques and color preferences are very different now. I wanted to make a concept that can be essentially described as "a cosmic-tarot princess-seer, the last of a once-prestigious line of seers, now abandoned and forgotten". What I ended up with I've never totally liked. I liked my original idea the most, but as I kept adding it it became too edgy/militant-looking and overly noisy in detail. While I do want to include some warrior's aspect to her due to her backstory, her normal form should have some elements of minimalism. I'll definitely be fiddling with her design later, but at least this is a good start where I can start making more story-related paintings of her to expand my "ITERATION" universe. It's been hard to put things out this year but I'm hoping I can focus seriously on ITERATION now and next year. (It feels like I say this every year though. Trying to return to my 2022 glory days lol)
