I heard that you can grow a scoby using store-bought, raw kombucha, so I decided to try this. This is my Scoby experiment using GT’s raw kombucha. You can try it with any raw kombucha. It took me 44 days to complete my experiment. I started off with 32 ounces of brewed black tea, half a cup of organic cane sugar(you can use regular sugar) and two bottles of the raw kombucha. I took out 2/3 of each bottle out, did not shake the bottles because I wanted the sediment at the bottom, and poured the last 1/3 into my brewed tea, be sure to pour both bottles in to the tea. Cover it with a fresh coffee filter and rubber band. Let it sit on a countertop out of the sun. At around two weeks I gave the mixture another half cup of sugar. Sugar feeds the Scoby. Keep in mind it takes a while to grow and it will need added sugar to grow stronger so be patient with it because it does brew some nice strong kombucha.
