Some kitchen garden hacks work, and some just aren’t worth it . This hack actually works. If you buy green onions, you can replant the rooted ends in your garden and enjoy green onions a few more times until they go to seed. Make sure to leave at least 3/4” of the white part when you cut them. Stick them in a shallow dish or lid with a little water in it, allow them to start to grow a bit and plant them in your garden. I use this hack every time I buy scallions (green onions). Not only does it provide me with more green onions. It also is a great source of natural pest control. Even when the green onions get very big, I will still use them for marinades. Chicken teriyaki is amazing with larger green onions. I also use them when making soup stocks and then discard them once they’re cooked.
