Note that I never say that personality and attitude outweigh skill. I’m saying you can be skilled at interpreting and still be a lousy interpreter. I’m ranking attitude and personality on the same equivalency level as skill. As an interpreter, you are constantly in environments and spaces which you do not own, therefore your adaptability, flexibility, and congeniality are key to making successful working relationships. Those that stay only in the heady part and ignore those soft skills are hard to work with, not just for the clients and consumers, but for their teams as well. #facts
Just remember, 10% skill means there is room for growth and that is something to work with, but 90% lousy attitude .... well that just looks like you are almost 100% jerk. 🤷🏽♀️😑🤟🏽 .
Caveat: 90/10 is not a studied measurement lol, and 80/20
was already taken 😬🤓. It’s my way of analyzing, assessing, and adding value to something often overlooked. Don’t be going into your ITP/IPP quoting me like it’s official. It’s only official on my page. 😭👍🏽
