Testing, Testing, Uno-Dos-Tres
I didn’t make this video to be cheeky. And honestly, I’m using hard thinking to drive home a point: We disproportionately focus on certification testing as if those results will magically make us better interpreters. Reality check: Your growth really begins after certification. You are provided more trust, space, capacity, and opportunity to develop your skills. On the flip side, there are many qualified Interpreters who have chosen NOT to get nationally certified for their own reasons, however, commit to ongoing skill development - which we all should do regardless of credentials. Just know, you can also be certified and NOT commit to skill improvement 🤷🏽♀️
If we treat the testing (hopefully) in the same way we approach, show up, and navigate real life jobs, then it’s just a matter of working through any nerves associated with being tested. The ultimate formula should be: Focus on quality of output, and in time it will transfer over to positive results, for you and your clients. 🙏🏽🤟🏽
