Before signing up, I believe I had a lot of blind confidence going into this. It turned out to be a good thing as if I knew what I was actually signing up for, I may have not actually signed up.
This is going to be significantly harder than I had originally anticipated, but that just provides a greater story out of it.
I finished my first month of training with 18 runs, totaling just over 82 miles. These were only logged during marathon training and not for the Ironman. I also ended up getting a stress fracture in my foot after my marathon, so I haven't been able to run since.
I've been enjoying biking much more than I expected to and had a total of 10 rides with a total of 321 miles. I just bought a bike trainer, so I believe I will be biking even more... Not a fan of the process of getting ready and going out for a bike ride. My longest route is only 42 miles.
Lastly, my least favorite discipline is swimming. I've had a total of 7 pool swims totaling just under 11,000 yards and 1 open water swim at 1 mile. I only really dread swimming out of all of the disciplines, but that might be because I'm not good at it.
It was a good first month to kick everything off, but we still have a lot of improvement to go. Once this stress fracture heals, we'll be getting back into running, and most likely doing more disciplines daily.
