Not only is diet and nutrition important while training for an Ironman, but it's also essential in your everyday life. This is what I eat in a day training for an Ironman and trying to maintain my weight.

Over the years, I have paid more attention to what I'm putting in my body and my diet; this is a big aspect to ensure I can consistently train and recover.

This was a fairly standard day for what I eat in terms of the choices I make for food, but my calorie intake was a little higher than my average.

My body needs approximately 2,700 calories if I don't exercise just to maintain my body weight. The more I exercise, the more calories I need to consume. On this day, I burned approximately 2,000 calories, needing to consume nearly 5,000 calories to maintain and recover.

My breakfasts are always the same with 5 eggs and a bagel. My lunch and dinners stay consistent with a veggie, meat, and carb, and then I have a few snacks throughout the day to get me to my calorie intake goal. Here are some options that I go with for meats, veggies, and carbs:

Meats:
Chicken
Beef
Steak
Turkey
Pork
Fish

Veggies:
Asparagus
Broccoli
Brussel Sprouts
Mushrooms
Green Beans
Black Beans
Spinach

Carbs:
Sweet Potato
Wild Rice

I finished this day hitting my calorie intake goal of approximately 4,800 and this is exactly what I eat in a day.
