How do we create training programs at SMP?

When a client comes to SMP…

Not only do we assess
where they’re physically at.

We also assess
where they’re mentally at.

So when a client comes to us,
what usually happens is:

Where the say they’re at
vs where they’re ACTUALLY at?

Are TWO very different things.

➡️ They may have been
training for 5 years.

But NEVER track their weights.

➡️ Or they may have been training
for 5 years (and even more).

But never use a rep range,
or a rest period
effectively.

We’ve had some
hardest workers in the room.

They train 5,6,7 days a week,
2x a day.

But often
at the expense
of their results.

Which is why they’re here.

So in the Sports Model Project…

1️⃣ We do movement screening.

This is to assess our client’s

➡️ mobility,
➡️ instability,
➡️ movement patterns,
etc.

And from there,
we see what they’re doing
really well.

But we also assess
where they’re breaking down.

Because we are only
as strong as our weakest link,
aren’t we?

Now, that’s just the first part.

2️⃣ We assess their goals.

We give them a timeline.

In which we lay out
where they are currently
vs where they need them to be
over a 6-month period.

And from there…

We teach them ALL the things
they’re missing out on.

Which might be mobility.
Or how to follow a proper
periodised training program.

The third part?

3️⃣ We get them
to film their movement
to send off to their assigned coach.

So that they can get feedback
and critique every single week.

And start improving their movement literacy,
which is a HUGE part of
developing the physique
that they want.

✅ So overall:

When clients come to SMP…

We don’t just meet them where they’re at.
We take them from

➡️ Where they are now…
➡️ To where they NEED to be.

Using effective coaching
and programming principles.

Which you can use and apply
for the rest of your life.
