Make it! with Julia Marcus
Julia Marcus, a current graduate student at Longy School of Music of Bard College, just released her first EP called Evening Prayer. This is something she has always wanted to do and quarantine gave her the opportunity to slow down and do so. Julia studied Classical Music for her undergrad at Carnegie Melon where the experience was incredible. She learned healthy techniques for how to use her instrument, her voice, to it's fullest extent. Moving away from home was a struggle, but it helped her to grow and she learned she was an extrovert. Throughout her time at at Carnegie Melon and now Longy she has worked in ensembles, with opera, jazz, classical, and contemporary music, and much more. Her advice to students: First, for those interested in studying music, classical is a great way to go. It helps a lot to really understand the power of your voice. Second, collaborate as much as possible! Join ensembles, create your own, take a role you wouldn't usually take. You never know what will come of it.
