Rescued earlier this week by Rachael, Mr Crane's predicament was interesting on several counts.
First and foremost is the irrefutable proof that there are still some Little Red flying-foxes in town despite the fact they are supposed to travel to far north Queensland during autumn to winter and give birth.
Clearly nobody told Mr Crane about this and he unfortunately found himself stranded on the internal stairs of an 18 story high crane!.
Suffering a very slight concussion Mr Crane is already up and about and zooming around the flight aviary.
Little Reds are the most migratory of our flying-fox species and they travel all over Australia seeking out native flowering events.
Luckily for us they love bananas which helps to calm them and reinforces the notion that we are here to help and not to hurt them.
