Turning just about any item into a beautiful piece of "Fake Brass" is soooo easy with this affordable technique using gold spray paint (in any color of gold) and Waverly's Antiquing Wax.

I absolutely love the dark academia style that is becoming so popular right now. Other than dark moody rooms with lots of books I notice a lot of brass items. The brass has a vintage patina that just looks cozy against a dark color or green. It looks especially gorgeous in Fall and Christmas decor. When an item can transition through the seasons and still be classic, then I am all for it.

In this video, I show you how I have learned to mimic that vintage brass look with thrift store or everyday items you probably have in your home. Spray paint is such an affordable way to change any of your decor items. My best solution for the texture of the look is to use hammered spray paints. They come in a variety of colors and finishes. Adding the antiquing wax is what really does it for these pieces. It is the easiest way to add age.
The hardest part of doing this look with spray paint is waiting for a pretty non-windy day.

Thrift-flipping Easter items might be my favorite thing ever!
You can find some of these items in my booth at Dragonfly Antique Mall in Warrenton MO
