“We have two days, and what happens in camp stays in camp,” says Doug Kramer, Division Chaplain. “You’re going to have adventures; you’re going to ask some questions and have a chance to explore some answers. We’re just going to have some time in creation and it’s beautiful.”

Church camp is about building bonds, family, and relationships. Through activities like rock climbing, social bonding exercises, the “King Swing”, and journaling among others, participants come to camp to enjoy God’s creations through nature and human connection.

You don’t have to be Catholic to attend church camp, nor to attend any Catholic school within the GSACRD network. Families choose to attend for the family atmosphere and relationship building opportunities, and all are welcome.

“Half of our graduates here today [at camp] are not Catholic,” says Don Hinks, Principal at Morinville Community High School. “That tells you about the bonding, the friendships, and the families that we form at our school.”

Being at camp is about coming together with your peers, getting away from the typical day-to-day routine, and building new memories that will last a lifetime. Activities are designed to open students’ minds to those they may not have interacted with in the school setting, encouraging new friendships. Everyone feels included, and everyone comes away feeling more confident, less stressed, and more connected to people and to God.

“They’re human beings having a human experience,” says Doug. “They want something more than what the world has to offer.”
