For Lisa St-Onge, finding a school that could support her son’s special needs was important. In the Greater St. Albert Catholic School system, she not only found the support her son needed, but they found a community that welcomed him as one of their own.
“He started almost not speaking at all,” said Lisa, “and by the end of kindergarten he was actually saying ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ and working on his letters.”
Now in grade eight, Lisa’s son is participating in several optional classes. He’s welcomed by his peers and feels like an equal member of his school’s family, and he is thriving.
