SEGMENTED BOWL w/BRANCHES from our HOMES

A multi-wood, segmented bowl, supported by columns made from the branches of all the homes we’ve lived in.

** DETAILS **

HOW LONG TO MAKE: 60 hours
HARDEST PART(s): (1) Figuring it all out, (2) Not turning the bowl too thin on the lathe, (3) getting the columns somewhat identical.
HOW MANY PIECES: 200+
MATERIALS: Bloodwood, maple, walnut

COMMENTS: Yes, I really did try and save a branch a tree from every house we’ve lived in – from Salt Lake City to Maryland, from Texas to Alabama, from Bear Lake to Aspen Grove to the Salt Lake Temple. If I was missing a piece, or if the original saved piece was too cracked, I simply called up a friend or two and they went and asked the current owner if they could have a branch.

ORIGINAL SOURCE: I made it up as I went along. There were some other segmented bowls with this choice of three wood species that gave me inspiration, but I didn't write down the URLs. Just search "Segmented bowls" on the internet.
