Use of Improved Series Inverter With Coupled Inductors
The circuit consists of two inductors of equal inductance placed closely with each other
There is no danger of short circuit of input power supply due to presence of closely coupled reactors L1 and L2 in the circuit.
SCR-2 can be turned ON even before ⇒ Load current has reached zero or before SCR-1 has been turned OFF .
Thus , the frequency range of the inverter is increased as the output frequency can be greater than the ringing frequency of resonant circuit.
Only one drawback of basic series inverter has been eliminated in this circuit .
In this circuit, output frequency can be increased by turning ON SCR-2 before turning OFF of SCR-1.
Features
Due to circuit arrangement the firing of one SCR causes turning OFF of other conducting SCR, even before load current to zero naturally.
The output frequency higher than the ringing frequency can be obtained
Harmonic content is less compared to basic series inverter.
