FEATURES OF FULL BRIDGE SERIES RESONANT INVERTER

It consists of four SCRS

The commutating components L and C connected in series with Load R.

The power flow from DC source is continuous

It allows higher output power

The maximum output frequency is equal to ringing frequency of resonant circuit.

The supply current can be continues but pulsating.

Harmonic content in supply current is more as compared to Half Bridge Series Resonant Inverter.

In General, the output frequency of series resonant inverter depends on the load R.

Hence these inverters are more suitable for fixed load (R) conditions.

Depending on the power handling capacity the thyristors can be replaced by BJTs, MOSFETs, IGBTs and GTOs .

WORKING
When S1 and S2 is fired

A positive resonant current pulse flows through the load R .

S3 and S4 is fired only after the positive pulse current have become zero to prevent short circuit of DC source.

Therefore, max output frequency is equal to ringing frequency of resonant circuit is obtained

When S3 and S4 is fired

A negative resonant current pulse flows through the load R .

The supply current is continuous as in both half cycles of load current source supplies current to load R .

The power flow from source to load is continuous and supply current is continues but pulsating.
