Half Wave Controlled Rectifiers (HWCR) Operating Modes :
1. Conduction Mode
During +ve half cycle of ac input voltage : SCR gets Forward biased and at 𝛚t = 𝛂 , 𝐒𝐂𝐑 𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐂𝐑 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐍 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞
2. Free Wheeling Mode
During -ve half cycle of ac input voltage : SCR gets reverse biased and FWD is forward biased.
If inductance = Low ⇒ current continuous to flow after 𝛚t = 𝝅 but becomes zero before next firing angle "⇒" Discontinuous waveform of IL
If inductance = High ⇒ current continuous to flow after 𝛚t = 𝝅 but doesn't become zero before next firing angle "⇒" Continuous waveform of IL
