BBC Radio 1 & 2 - Simon Bates (David Hamilton Show) - October 1977
It's October 1977 and a couple of months before the BBC can afford to have a separate weekday afternoon show on Radio 1 and Radio 2.
For those of us who suffered poor quality reception on Radio 1's 247 metre frequency, these were the dying days of being able to hear a daily Radio 1 show on FM.
While regular host David Hamilton takes a holiday, Simon Bates stands in, just a month before beginning his own long-running mid morning slot on Radio 1. He'd also sat in for David back in the summer of '77.
This collection of clips includes the somewhat unusual chance to hear Simon having to play a David Hamilton jingle as he sticks to the show's regular features including the "Mystery Star Competition"
