BBC Radio 1 & 2 - David Hamilton - December 1976
It's December 1976 and David Hamilton rules the weekday afternoon airwaves with a massive audience to his show which is simulcast on both Radio's 1 and 2.
For those of us who suffered poor quality reception on Radio 1's 247 metre frequency, this was also a chance to hear a daily Radio 1 show on FM.
A popular feature on the show was specially recorded celebrity announcements and the occasional re-mix of a recent hit with lyrics promoting "The David Hamilton Show". Listen out for an opening announcement from the late Bill Fredericks of soul band, The Drifters.
Apologies for the poor sound quality on this - I only had a second-hand Philips portable cassette recorder at this time which was recording off Mum's Grundig kitchen radio using an open microphone!
