That’s a wrap to our Meet The Beatles! project. We hope you enjoyed the journey, and now we’ll expand. Maybe some songs on With The Beatles, singles, corrections, vocal covers? Not sure yet! This song is definitely one of the more empty songs on the LP, but it is for sure a great filler. Another one of the September 11th recordings, just like many of the songs on here! Lennon’s double tracked vocals, and the extremely bass heavy piano played by George Martin, including a fun solo. There is a very noticeable solo overdub as the stereo mix drastically changes right before and after the solo moving to the left pan. Ringo’s drumming has a fun groove… beginning with a great fill, and adds quarter note kicks. The ending fills, are extremely similar to “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and also tops it off with some Hi-Hat opening and closing at the very ending fade of the song.

That full grand piano sound was very key in this recording. Following a rhythm that is consistent throughout the song, which is also very similarly accompanied by Harrison’s lead playing. Also notice the dual Gibson J-160E combo. Yes, that’s how it is played. I initially thought George used his Gretsch Country Gentleman, but the J-160E has that unique tone you can’t miss! Both plugged in as well, while George’s is most noticeable with the bright triplet type pattern. Lennon’s was hard to tell, because the vocal track picks up so much of his aggressive clanky strumming, it almost sounds acoustic, but the left channel denies that with an electric/acoustic guitar tone in the instrument channel. Overall, a fun little song. Thanks for watching!
