As Wesak Day is approaching, I would like to include the profound quotes of Thai forest Master.
The quote in the beginning of the video consist part of the teachings of Ajahn Fuang Jotiko (1915- 1986).
This is taken from the book Awareness Itself (translated by Ajahn Thanissaro, an American monk) which is available for free via the following link:
https://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/t...

The audio is Ajahn Thanissaro's voice where he gave a talk sharing stories about his teacher, Ajahn Fuang. It is not really related to the quote. Ajahn Thanissaro ordained in 1976 as a Buddhist monk- during that time, it was not common to have Westerners who have ordained as monks. Ajahn Fuang could not converse in English, and Ajahn Thanissaro learned how to speak, read and write in Thai language. He then translated many books from Thai forest masters into English to make the teachings available to the English speaking world.

Quote by Ajahn Fuang: If people hate you, that’s when you’re let off the hook. You can come and go as you like without having to worry about whether or not they’ll miss you or get upset at your going. And you don’t have to bring any presents for them when you come back. You’re free to do as you like.

Note: The quote resonate deeply with me as I have meet my share of disagreeable people in my life. In the past, when people dislike me, it really used to bother me. But I have realized that we cannot please everyone. Some people, for some reasons would just dislike or hate us and no matter what we do, they would still find reasons to loathe us. So, just let them be, don't let them get to us.
